Very first thought that came to my mind and told everyone that the Tatas had done a great disservice to India with this Nano car. Even now, the road, water, and sewage infrastructrure is pathetic at best. Most youngsters and lower middle class will dump the bikes and buy the Nano. But, the road construction will take at least 20 years before even attaining mediocre standards. Inter city highways are good - but most Indians drive within cities - about 10 kms.
Banglaore eats the cake - that city is heading towards a traffic hell.

Yup, the process actually started in the 90s. BTW, the other cities will probably face the same problem (if they haven't already). I am curious to know about the quality of 'Nano' car. They showed a video clip of a Tata car on CNN. I think it's priced at $5000!!! As you might have guessed, it's going to be 'bare-bones' type of car; i.e. no AC, radio....etc.
The bare-bones car is closer to $2000. That is why that is such a threat to the road system. Don't forget the banks are ready with their loans to the new kids on the block for upto 90%.
