My mom would like to take the DMV written tests so she can go ahead and begin the driving part ... but she is not fluent in English.. she is most comfortable with Hindi.. is there anywhere where they give out the tests in Hindi or is there coaching for people who speak Hindi ?

Yes, they do in most of the DMV office. Call 1-800 number of DMV and they will send the handbook in hindi. You can also take the test in hindi at most of the locations.

It makes no difference if your mother have knowledge of English as you may know that some thing is better than nothing and i hope she will have no problem with it

In California they do provide the tests in various languages. I would try Fremont and Sunnyvale DMVs.

PS: Ah the delicious irony of seeing this post today amid all the language wars.
