I think 20-20 and Test Cricket will survice.

ODI is headed for a doom. I watched Ind-Pak finals fully and had to distract myself at least for 3 hours during the game. I couldn't have dreamt of Ind-Pak game being that disinteresting (it was a close game) 10 years back.

If not for 20-20 interest in cricket in India would be at a very low level by now. Same time last year, the team was down in the dumps after a first round exit at the world cup. Then came the 20-20 world cup and how things have changed since then.
The game must change in order to sustain itself. The ODI format itself was a by product of a washed out test match.
It's not traditional or sacred.
The power plays and the slog overs are the only interesting phases of a ODI.
20-20's biggest advantage is in it's convenience for spectators. They don't need to waste an entire day watching the match.

## not really. india was doing well in tests before the both the WCs and continued to do so after the 20-20 WC.

agreed, the crux of the problem is the amount cricket played these days. too much of anything is bad, no wonder the novelty has worn off If they cut down on the # intl. matches played in a calendar year and/or not schedule any intl. matches during the Ranji season then the star players will be available and participate in domestic matches, naturally fans will follow them to the first-class matches.

IPL has pulled the crowds because of the star power, for all this talk of "twenty20 is for the convenience of spectators" I would like to see how many would show up to watch a twenty20 domestic tournament i.e. without any of the star players (just with the ranji players) I bet not many would be interested. Instead of trying any of these methods BCCI chose to keep packed itinerary which is only going to leave the players and the fans exhausted.

Dude,

Lets face it, the ODI's and test are for the connosiuers(sp?)

T20 is for the masses.

One is for the skill, the other is for the money that sustains the skill. We need both.
