Parthiv is not a safe wicket keeper either. But he is good in batting. With the fab four(or fraud 4) struggling so much, it might be a good idea to send him as a pinch hitter at 3 or 4 so that he can score some quick runs.
i am sure parthiv patel will play in the next match. sri lanka is no more than three hours from baroda. it is not difficult to ask him to travel to lanka if karthik is injured. the only reason why they have patel there already in sri lanka is because they want to play him in case karthik fails. and he will play.
I think Dinesh Karthik is history... as far as Test matches go... Time they tried out other youngsters....
There were a few youngsters who played in the IPL too....
Wridhiman Saha (also a hard hitting batsman), Yogesh Takawale , Shreevats Goswami, Uday Kaul, Halhahar Das, Pinal Shah, Mahesh Rawat...... along with Parthiv Patel & Dinesh Karthik.
Out of them the ones who did good.... Wridhiman Saha, Yogesh Takawale, Shreevats Goswami & Uday Kaul are the names which did get special mention from some of the current & ex-Indian cricketers.....

KKD is just 23, age is on his side, so save your obituaries for some other time. Wasn't he hailed as the best keeper in India just a few years ago? Playing as a pure batsman and fielding in the covers etc. did serious damage to his glove work, he'll get his chances to redeem himself.

Yes, he is welcome to go back to domestic cricket, prove himself & make a comeback...meanwhile give chances to the other aspiring keepers..chk them out too..
Ganguly & Wright. Anyway it's a moot point. Yes he needs to go back to domestics to find his touch back, however, my response was to your over the top statements like "Karthik is history in test matches" blah blah blah!!
It is not me, but Karthik who made himself history.
Dhoni is India's keeper & will surely be around for some more years. meanwhile Karthik was lucky enough to get an opportunity & he screwed up... with the young aspiring keepers waiting to get in.... besides now we have some young aspiring batsmen & allrounders waiting to be picked up... Karthik is at a strong disadvantage to be given another chance. Thanks to IPL..... we do have aspiring players to look forward too. Whether they will do or not in international stage...time will tell..but they will surely be given opportunities much sooner than Karthik would have imagined. Parthiv Patel made it back... karthik will have to go back & do the same..start all over again.

Saha was very impressive in the IPL. He looked like an accomplished batsmen and was competetent behind the stumps.
However, keeping to the spinners in tests is a very different thing for him or any other wicket keeper to do. New 'keepers must be given 2-3 games to adjust to the flow of test matches.
