IPL is just a game of club cricket. It has really nothing to do with making India safer !
Not sure you get the whole picture..IPL is BIG business. Its creating jobs and improving lifes of people in India. Its brought new visions and ways of doing things that Indians had never seen before. Its impact can be huge, both socially and economically. And if it really matters, it sure can bring new methods and mechanisms for making events and thier neighbouhoods safer..which in effect will make India Safer..

I think you're attributing too much credit to a 6 week long season unless you meant improving lives of franchise owners ;-)

True its just a six week cricket. but lots of work has to go into it. The stadiums need to be ready, Ad to be produced shot and created. All the hoopla and marketing that goes with it are cooked up months in advance. Lots of infrastructure to be in created and ready to be deployed. This is a year long job for many companies.

It is fair of the players to feel scared & concerned about the blasts...... it takes guts to brave such stuff & carry on with your life & put the tragedy behind you.
It is easy to push all responsibilities to the govt & not own up any.... Indians are hypocrites when it comes to such matters.... a big percentage of the police is corrupt, the rationing officers who provide easy identities & addresses to strangers without a background or illegals, traffic police, octroi , customs, immigration officers ..without help from these corrupt people..there is no way that a terrorist can easily find a place in India.
People cannot help in nabbing terrorists (& they shouldnt) but people can be responsive by keeping track of things happening in their neighbourhood..... how difficult is for societies, neighbourhoods to keep tab on visitors/strangers in the neighbourhood. Housing societies, hotels, lodgings have to keep identification records of people who stay in their areas. It is also important for devotees or visitors to religious places where some fanatic religious teaching take place or fanatics preach in public gatherings be aware & responsive enough to report the matter to local officials or to the central govt. Because these religious fanatics are the ones who breed terrorism..& they are hand in hand behind all these terror attacks. Fear is their key to rule. Rule by spreading terror...

I have a lot of respect for the Indian police, no matter what reputation they have. I think they have done a Terrifc job, no hijackings after the Kandhar episode, some of the real major threats have been thwarted, especially in the south where cells are being busted on a weekly basis.
However, we lack techniques and processes to be proactive. Our systems are defensive. We need to take the attack to the terrorists and thats not happening. Today they moved 500 troops to the border, thats a good first step.
who is paying for that? IPL or Indian Govt.? If its the latter I rather see IPL shutdown their operations in India than spending tax dollars on IPL (they're already getting those innecessray tax breaks), they can relocate to ozzieland for all I care, don't want India to spend a naya paisa from tax dollars.
I concur with rest of the post, India does not have the technology to be proactive, on top of that all those tens of 1000s of mosques located all over India will make it that much more difficult to track them down.
IPL ofcourse. Even now IPL pays for the Indian police. The security for theTests, ODIs is done by the Indian police at the federal Govt expense.
