This is just the begining of the new spinning sensation from Srilanka.....
Great bowling performance....8 overs, 13 runs, 6 wickets...
& a tournamanet stats of....42 overs, 145 runs, 17 wickets, Econ:3.45 , 1x 4 wickets/match, 2 x 5 wickets in a match....
The Srilankan legend was at his awesome best... hats off to Sanath Jayasuriya !!!
Smart thinking by Capt.Jayawardene to hide Mendis in the semifinals against India ..to add on the surprise element against India in the finals... & his gameplan worked perfectly. Thats how matches are won.. you have a gameplan much ahead of the future matches.
Capt.Dhoni faulted this time. This plan/attitude of taking every game one at a time..is going against India.
Why the heck would you not play a Yusuf Pathan on a spinning wicket (even if he didnt really have a great time with the bowl in the tournament) . Picking the out of form Uthappa was unwise. You killed one of your slow bowling options. Pragyan Ojha might be economical but he is no wicket taker. Piyush Chawla should have been played...knowing that Piyush is also a good fielder & useful bat. Put your best people out there. The fielding by this young team sucked in the whole tournament.
Well played Srilanka !!!! deserving Champions.
Ajantha Mendis has the last laugh..Indians collapse.

>>>>>>Since when did we start to wonder who is being shielded and who is not? Apparently, the Sri Lankan's used that logic to play a mind game on us and let us believe that we are really about to face a Stealth Bomber! I have seen the whole game and I must admit that the fellow loved every moment of attention. Yes, he can bowl six different balls per over, but is it sufficient to bamboozle a strong batting lineup on a dead-track? Absolutely not. We just caved in mentally.....which has been the phenomemon when it comes to our batting performance in the finals.
Now SL will play to their strength in the next series. Arjuna will ask curators to prepare spinning tracks. To stop Murali and Mendis, we need strong players against spin like Dravid, Tendulkar, Sourav and VVS, batting order wise. One test match with that batting line up and I am sure the fuse will be blown over the new spinning sensation.
SL, media, and everybody built a castle for Mendis, who took full advantage of it. Mendis is someone who would speak only in Sinhala......for a man who lived in a small world, it is but natural to announce his entry into the big league with such a reputation to "defend". Great for the young man. I would expect his Skip to back him in times good and bad. Murali will have a greater responsibility in teaching him how to cope with different conditions.
If I were Dhoni, I would have elevated Irfan to break the youngster's confidence, after he beat Sehwag in the air. Yuvraj will embarass us big time, if he were to face Murali and Mendis. If we continue to be worried about who is being hidden, there was Ajantha Mendis yesterday, there will be Ellora Mendis tomorrow.......Jo Dar gaya, woh Mar gaya! :) I am sure that certain IPL franchises would have contacted him by now.

yeah, he has lost two finals in the subcontinent, so he must have had his feet on the ground by now. rumour has it that he is pullnig out of the lankan tour. let's see.
gary kirten seems like a low-profile coach. has not said much and i think he is still overwhelmed. or maybe, he does not like indians and the indian conditions and is busy writing another diary attacking indians.
