Her decision to play for Russia is no different that a European such as Monica Seles, Martina Navratilova, Ivan Lendl etc qualifying and playing for the US.
There IS a slight difference... bcz thosee three "emigrated" from Checz and Serbia due to persection or at least monetarily. They were supposed to give all the earnings to the commie Govt which will then pay their allocated share. Also, they could not talk freely. Remember, when they "escaped" to US, they were not able to go back to their country until they received their US passport.
This girl has no such restriction and even invited for US team trials - albeit after her selection in the Russian team.
