THIRD WORLD and HOW TO CHANGE INTO FIRST WORLD

started by nanua 7 mnths ago
In early 2002 I wrote my first poem and posted on sulekha.  The title was "Third World".  The theme was to make India, my country a FIRST WORLD.  Very simple ideas that I put there then.  Let us have a discussion now.  It is hard to categorize this important topic into any of the above categories, so I put it into POLITICS area.

If you want to change a 3rd world country into a 1st world country, the first thing you MUST do is control your population.  Start educating your people about birth control.  If you do not control your population, you are in a losing proposition.  The government could even pay couples not to have children for 5 years or so after they get married.  The uncontrolable spread of population growth makes it very hard on a country.  This growth allows for the spread of disease, unemployment and homelessness.

"...the first thing you MUST do is control your population. "

Jauhari, I believe population is already being controlled. Unlike China, Indian govt. can't/will not force people to have two children maximum. Even if all Indian couples have just one child or children at all, it would be impossible for Indians to attain the standard of living and per capital income compatible with the americans. The only estern country that has been able to accomplish that is Japan. Japan has certain advantages in that, their population is homogenous (for the most part) and literacy rate is very high (95% or higher). India could become a 2nd world country if some of the societal problems are resolved. Japan has one of the most orderly societies in the world. In contrast, India has one of the most disorderly society, and I don't take pleasure in saying that--it's 'painful'.

I agree with your assessments for the most part.  However, consider the fact that feeding, clothing and medicating a population is very costly.  Japan has had it's problems as well.  There was a saying that says "Let me control the food of the world, and I'll rule the world".  That is why the U.S. puts so much emphasize on agriculture.  We have allowed other countries to take over the electronics of the world, and other products of the world.  The U.S. wants to be in control of food distribution and medicine distribution.  Whomever controls thoughs cummodities, rules the world.  India will always depend on other countries because it cannot catch up to the population that has been created.  But it is never too late to educate it's citizens about birth control.

Actually, food production is one area India is self-sufficient. I don't think they are lacking in production of medicines either. They actually export medicines. I am sure most Indians know about birth control. The problem is, birth control is not emphasized in certain communies. I don't think muslims believe in birth control.

Politics ??? Well, that's simply a " touch me not " topic for me. I have a different bend of mind to see India on " TOP"   ( NOT TECHNICALLY FIRST WORLD THO')..... Culturally we are sooooo affluent , how can we be low in taking political decisions ? Can our deferential equation wrench defusive stuff  ? No, no...... We have intellectuals , economists and  beaurocrats to take us up there !  I desist from talking about politicians tho'.... WE WILL BE AMONGST FIRST WORLD SOON Amen!!!

Thanks Mrs. Muffet.  I agree with you totally, but still we are not there.  Something deeper is missing.

i read your said poem .u seggested that all indians should think big and work together .is n't working together the biggest problem .even when one knows in ones heart that views and ways of other person r correct .one choose to differ and raise voice against it because he\she belong to other school of thoughts or other party .

Namita:  What I meant was the team work.  Or once the decision is made to get something done, working toegether to achieve those goals.  I did not mean difference of opinions, yes express them before decision is made.
