What it feels like to stay in an alien city among alien people!

Hi all,

This discussion is for all those people who have come all the way from their homes to work in a different city. It so happens that the first thing we crib about is food, after a day's work you do not get the right kinda food at your table, you start wondering, what is the point of earning when i can't afford a nice meal for myself. It is not that you are running short of money, but you have limited choice as far as food is concerned. Then we go back to our memory lanes where we used to make fuss about the kind of food our mothers would prepare. Something like this "i don't like ladies finger', give me roti for the lunch", i want chicken today or paneer tomorrow." But all this comes to an end when life takes a turn and you are all set to begin your career in another city, different people, different kind of food and an alien culture, somewhat similar but you can't really relate to it.
I think all of us has had our share of worries and difficulties, ut i feel staying an working in adifferent city makes on emore responsible, he or she get to know what it feels like to get accolades in from your boss, what it feels like to mingle with people from other parts of the country, people whom you've heard of but never had a chance to know about them. I feel that people all over India should mingle with each other to do away with any myths and misconceptions if nay about a culture you are not aware of. That is how we will get to know what real India is and what it feels like to communicate through gestures when you can not express yourself through another language.

Depends on city.

I hated my short stay in Kanpur.

No problem when I moved to Berkeley (US). From Day 1 i was home like feeling

but here you can get burritos without ladies fingers. at least most of the time. if you find a ladies finger, you can always sue the restaurant for letting someone put a finger in the food.
