LEADERSHIP IN ACTION

started by nanua 7 mnths ago

There is a lot of talk about LEADERSHIP, leadership in family, community, at work, in politics, in a country, at the world stage and so on.  The literature is replete with leadership titles, top business schools teach and professors there earn their livelihood.  TV, radio hosts, you name all talk about LEADERSHIP.

Let us start a discussion on:
1.  What do we understand about leadership in our own way?
2.  What do we expect from leadership?
3.  Why leadership in the first place and what kind?
4.  Leadership and FREEDOM
5.  And other

Leadership , basically helps in increasing  a gathering momentum....be it political or official !

People rally around the leader  insearch of something......

Leadership cannot be defined in terms of  freedom ....they are mutually exclusive.....if one is under a leader, he will always find his leader thrusting his nose in every way possible.
I can think of just these few things nanua!

Folks,
I'm amazed at the way people ahve the concept of leadership confused with politics. According to me in todays circumstances they are almost mutually exclusive.

(The only example where i have seen it come close is Laloo Prasad, he does bugger all as far as the railway ministry is concerned except act as its face to the world, but he lets others get the job done, the real idea people, the real movers and shakers. He doesnt put in his nose everywhere except when theres a new Rabdi railway stop to be inagurated, or a sadhu yadav to be bailed out but alas into each life a little rain must fall)

A good leader is one who lets other people do their jobs and does not poke his nose into everything. A bad leader (and we see examples around us everywhere) is one who thinks he can do everything from movie acting , to being an MLA.

A good leader is one who knows what to sacrifice and when, one who doesnt look at the personal cost involved in getting a job done. A bad leader is one who looks at a task and thinks "mera kya"

I could go on and on but suffice to say, look around you there are leaders everywhere except they are now working for the banks, stockmarket, industry and a few in IT.

All I know from experience is that "bad followers" never make a good leader.

And leadership is not in knowledge, but in action ONLY.

Dear Shuunya;  These are wonderful observations, actually eye openers.
Thanks

The true color of a leader or a human are always known when under tremendous pressure.

All is good - world is good. You speak nice. I speak nice.

I would actually like to have a "fight" with you Mr Nanua someday

nanua posted Re:LEADERSHIP IN ACTION on 7 mnths ago

Shuunya  Mao used to say that a person's true identity is known only when there is struggle.  Only then will the person come for or against and NOT JUST NICE NICE as you said.

Me and you don't have to fight per say.  We can multiply our strengths to help others.

Thanks Shuunya, you are doing a good job.  I like it very much.

Good you brought up Mao...he is the worst kind of leader.  A leader who focres himself on his people and kiiling by thousands..A leader who treats followers as a lifeless robots is no leader but a monster. So you will see leaders like Mao, Stalin, Hitler etc., who aren't the kind you want to emulate..

Now there are leaders who inspire..Gandhi, Lincoln, Washington, Churchil,  etc.,

So basically a Leader is some one who has two things..
1. A clear and clean vision
2. Inspires people to get to that vision ethically

thats a leader for me..

nanua posted Re:LEADERSHIP IN ACTION on 7 mnths ago
Dear Jatayu.  Absolutely.  Mao was never my role model.  I do appreciate your two points very much:

1. A clear and clean vision
2. Inspires people to get to that vision ethically

I am glad that this discussion is brining a lot of neat ideas.  Let us continue.
Thanks again.
