1. Is this doable ? Can one convert B1 into L2 without issues while in the US .
- Yes. You have to fill out some form to change your visa status. Google for the form.
2. How long does it take ?
- Don't know.
3.Is it easy to get a EAD on L2 thereafter as well?
- Yes. You can fill out the forms yourself and get it. It may take upto 3 months..

Any visa should be able to convert to a spouse visa - without much of a problem. Then Getting EAD from L2 I am not quite sure. It may be necessary to go to H1 and then the GC process. But better to pat $100 to a lawyer and ask for his opinion.
Besides, are you the old timer Smita. When I checked your profile you appear to be the old timer - who else will have that kind of a list of friends and suddenly stopped in the tracks? If you are...hope you are doing fine.
