The following hymn in the Yajur Veda shows respect for physicians’ profession:
“When the plants come together
Like princes at the assembly,
Sage is the physician called,
Slayer of Raksases, overpowerer of diseases” Yajur Veda (Kanda 4 - hymn 4. 2. 6.g)
The cleaning with water for physicians was probably introduced initially to avoid contamination and infection to themselves and others and thus make the practice of medicine more effective. Moreover, this cleansing was practiced as a ritual so that the medical practitioner would not forget it.
The following Yajur Veda hymn shows the importance of hygiene, washing and cleaning by using water while practicing medicine. To ensure the effectiveness of medicine and medical practice, there is a pot of water next to the physician to regularly clean / wash, almost in the ritualistic sense and being knowledgeable (as if next to a brahmin). Moreover, physician being next to brahmin indicates that there is no casteist discrimination against him and that the physician’s profession is not a lowly job. Also, physician’s vocation (as a medicine man) involves three importnat influences: Agni or fire (source of energy, food etc. and hot water), water (for drinking, medicine and cleanliness etc.) and knowledge (acquired or learnt in the brahminical sense).
“…Having purified them by the Bahispavamana (Stotra) they drew for them this cup for the Açvins; therefore (the cup) for the Açvins is drawn when the Bahispavamana has been sung. Therefore by one who knows thus the Bahispavamana should be performed; verily he purifies himself. Their skill as physicians they deposited in three places, in Agni a third, in the waters a third, in the brahmin a third. Therefore one should put beside him a pot of water and sit on the right hand of a brahmin when practising medicine; all medicine he performs thereby, his remedy becomes effective….” Yajur Veda (Kanda 6 - hymn 6.4.9.2)

Have this theory has been proven by some western scientists(Preferably Skinner's disciples) with PhD, or any sampling done with selective individuals selected by the researchers?:)
If you get injured you go to a doctor or recite the mantra/yajurveda?
If the above conditions not met, what you have written or the Vedas are all nonsense.

This is Gold...pure Gold... bookmark..... your long time wish is granted..... The first post cussing you in all these years.....
No. I donot care about the cuss words. I follow the advice of Buddha. When someone rejects/ignores anything, it goes back to the giver:) And it also give me another opportunity to practice restraint:) And wonder about HIS creations and its features:)

Read the post carefully before commenting on it - whether an injured person should go to a doctor or recite a mantra (from Yajur Veda etc.)?
These hymns in the Vedas basically reflect the conditions, customs and living in society at that time. They give us insight what was happening long ago. This post basically deals with the idea (according to Yajur Veda) that physicians in the society long ago were quite well-respected, practiced their vocation (medicine) properly (using cleanliness etc.) and they were not treated as untouchables (as someone was trying to imply in another thread earlier).
Now the Unitarian, Hasidic Muslim will take offense to your statement.
