Thanks for posting the link - amazing thing. 

Several reasons for its longevity: perhaps the filament is enclosed in vacuum (not happens normally);  is a low wattage application (bulb);  has remained 'on' all the time; is not touched or physically disturbed (shaken) any time; and / or simply a freak of nature

thanks for the analysis, mr science. I was half expecting you to ask for a IIT-IISC joint commission to study this phenomenon and replicate it across all the villages and cities across desh.

Yes and I heard Propaganda12 is the one that screwed the bulb into the socket originally!  He is that old!
