i just started doing this as of last year and it seems over the yrs, i had forgotten how much i enjoyed gardening. my hubby didnt like the idea at first, but every morning now he is the one keeping track of the tomatoes and chilis and cilantro and mint. i only do the beefstake tomoatoes and all diff kinds of peppers and then later we use it for pakodas!!!!!!!!!!!!yummy. summer is NY is very short lived, that is the only downside

Hello Namita, I looked up your pix on the net. You're quite hot actually and I was sorta wondering if you're slutty by nature. That way I could hope to see you on webcam some day?

Very few people are successful growing vegetables. Yeah, we get some tomatoes, eggplant, aanapakayalu (lauki), peppers, karela, etc. But I think the for the effort we put in the results are dismal, and it is so year after year. But still every year, we do it as if it's some religious ritual.

what is the reason for the dismal results?
This year i have tomatoes, eggplant, hot peppers, squashes, cukes, herbs. I have done this almost every year.
even when i lived in an apt, i grew vegs in containers.

May be you have a green thumb. As for my veggie plants, they grow nice, strong, and healthy with lots of btranches and foliage, but yield very few actual vegetables. The few that do show up get eaten by rabbits and deer. The only reasonable success I have is with bacchalakura (Telugu) - aka Indian spinach or poisaag (Oriya), and karimepaaku (I believe it's karipattar in Hindi), and kottimeera (coriander / cilantro).

i had the landscaper dig up two feet and hadit filled with rich top soil. but your plants seem to be healthy, try adding some flowering chemicals. that will increase the yield. also weekly feeding seem to help along with daily (well almost daily) watering.
Only thing you can do for rabbits and deer is put up a fence and maybe a wind chime/noicemaker.
I am probably the only indian who does not have a karipatta plant. where do i get one?
