I think it is not a question for with kids but with Luggage as in India if any person have more luggage then few near person who are sitting with them immediatly ask while looking to Luggage that are you Marwari [Rajasthani]?
Not really... It is the luggage dragging, picky, memsahib that is the root cause.

Try to anticipate what she or they are going to do. That way you are one step ahead and be prepared. Do not worry about hotel guys. They don't stay with you in the room. Getaways are good times to create nice memories. Don't sweat on small details. Key is anticipate and try to push to things in the direction you like. Arguments spoil the mood.
