I agree, the two actors- Tariq & Vijay Arora in the video & the colorful chamki costumes might not do justice to the song today... but that movie was ahead of its times when it comes to youth appeal & the songs, music, lyrics are timeless classics. Zeenat Aman was way ahead of her time...one of the best body in Indian cinema & one of the earlier actress who did perfect justice to western outfits & made some fashion sense. She is an icon...just like the other contributors to this song ... Nasir Hussein, RD Burman, Kishore Kumar & Asha Bhosle...
Rahul Dev Burman was way ahead of his times... no wonder his songs are the ones which get remixed the most till date. Even the singers Kishore Kumar & Asha Bhosle could sing for any generation...this one was one of their superhit song.
Yaadon ki Baarat was a perfect amsala movie..& one of the most popular lost & found masala movie. Nasir Hussein's impeccable taste for music made most of his movies superhits.
On a serious note, I remember this flick having some decent songs, but the visual --- the visual...pretty much always a let down, with the garish, exaggerated movements and dialogues...just can't take it anymore..:(
You are brushing with a broad stroke here:), I still see the same outlandish behavior in the commercial flicks I see somet imes (can't seriously sit thru one for more than an hour, at best)
P.S. I am not talking about the social themed/ artistic stuff. I am talking about the usual masala flicks, that border on self-parody.
Hmm. You too, when you say, 'Good god! - Bollywood- forever crass!' It is like, if I disapprove of too much nudity and 7/10 Hollywood movies has it, what will I say? 'Good god! - Hollywood- forever lewd?'
