he used to tell me I was killing him saying no to the prom anyways he went with another girl but My Mom said no because I was under age when I graduated High school and there was going to be alchool or so I heard that in the school prior to that... u know the whole scenario the first night out the first all in American culture "Prom Night" you loose all pride there lol

Well, in my times and my town in India, the girls lost their pride the same time that the guy lost their freedom.
Regarding the popular American prom culture, it is really upto the individual. Wrong for immigrant parents to paint it with a wide brush and be apprehensive about it.
