Can any of you Kannadiga's or other astute Sulekhaites throw any light on what the trends are in Karnataka state elections? I think they start this week end.

With pseudo-seculars being a solid vote bank and freebies announced by Congress. Congress seems to have the edge.
BJP is hampered by lack of Charismatic Leader. Yediurappa has not shown much action until now.
Sympathy factor has been extinguished, by the passage of time. Congress made sure of that.
Caste politics also plays a role here.
If BJP wins it will be a miracle , and that will depend on Arun Jaitely.

We have seen congress government under Dharam Singh. Totally non functional.
Krishna is different. Congress knew its weaknesses, that is why it brought Krishna back

BJP wil split with the Original Conwallahs in the BJP switching back to Congress. Karnataka BJP is not like the Gujarat BJP, which consists mostly of the RSS-bred politicians. Karnataka BJP consists a majority of party hoppers from outside. In fact people like Ananth kumar are even being challenged.
Looks like Hegde and SM Krishna were the best after Devraj Urs.

He is fair.... and Karnataka and Andhra would fall for the Nehru Clan. The TN people are crazy about the Indira Clan - but end up voting for one of the two corruption leaders.

AP remains faithful to Indira like no other state. K'taka is showing signs of breaking out. The of dynasty will come when AP breaks from Gandhi family without the galvanizing influence of NTR.
A hung assembly is not in the interest of K'taka people. But that is the price of democracy.
