I think instead South indians treats a women like property as they take a lot of dowry.
They sell themselves for money . I have seen many south indians just considering dowry as a main reason to get marriage.
And the foolish parents force their daughter to marry just because they want to send her to US.

All Indians treat women as property.
I hear about more dowry/caste related stuff from the north.
