the sorry state of primary schools in uttar pradesh.

>>> "The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan report on the status quo of primary education in the state for 2007-2008 makes for a depressing read. It says that 3,756 elementary schools in the state do not have drinking water facilities; 12,253 elementary schools do not have toilet facilities; 215 elementary schools do not have a building; 441 schools do not have a single teacher."

>>> instead of fruitlessly pontificating about a national language and hindi-pracharing here is a more pressing problem to devote yourselves.

This is no way to treat the language of a province your forefathers once hailed from. It is common knowledge that your ancestors were north indian brahmins who were once invited to Madras by King Chola who was very impressed by the genteel and cultured brahmins of Uttaram Pradesham.

Though you deny it, you are ex north indian. Though you may feel apologetic about it, you are brahmin. Though you may refute it, your skin is of pure konkanesque, upper caste texture, viz. fair (actually you don't deny this -- hmm). All of this points out to your kinship with north indians, especially your complexion, which stands out stark among darker south indians. You are a class apart and hardly madraasi. Your denigration of brahmanic practices and your denial of your ex northindianess will not cut you out into a poetic, tragic, romantic hero who has been mercilessly impaled by sins that are not of his doing or into one who's carrying the konkan man's burden. Women are smart and they see through all this. Men are smarter. All this denial and apology just won't cut it. It won't hide your intrinsic, miserable worthlessness. Try some other trick.

>>> miyan "uttar-pradeshi-transplant-in-west-bengal, frothing-at-the-mouth-at-whatever-i-write" madArAsi (note the correct spelling of that word) -- we are all ex-africans. however, where our long dead ancestors came from is quite irrelevant to the point i was making. try again. thank you.

Haha! You can call me Uttaram Pradasham as much as you like. The fact is that I am Bengali, wear Bengali clothes, speak Bangla, and am proud of it. Where my parents hailed from is quite irrelevant to this discussion as long as I have made known to you my origins.

Tell us something that we dont know already. We have an example here. Rather a sample. Certainly if ONE movie theater showing a Hindi movie is a statistically acceptable way to judge the hindi acceptance in TN, then the single sample in CH is statistically good enough to infer that UP schools stink - big time.

Other states aren't doing any better!  For example, the recent tragedy in Kumbhakonam (TN) suggests that schools don't follow safety regulations.

>>> possibly, but tamilians aren't wasting time shoving tamil down other indians' throats while they have more pressing problems in their own state to solve.

....but tamilians aren't wasting time.....

>>>and neither any common man in India....
the only  two who have been noticed, wasting time on language issues are.. CHers & politicians ( to a lesser extent than former)

(p.s. it's interesting to watch how the Indian intelligentsia in U.S. discuss the issues & problems of India on their laptop, reclining in their armchairs during weekends.)

entirely incorrect! nearly every northindian has said, some time in his/her life, "why they are talking in telgu? hindi is national language, na?" then he works himself up into a frenzy over some mrs. mishra feeling humiliated because the south indian man in the ticket booth in chennai didn't understand her when she asked for a ticket to madurai in hindi. btw, why is it always a mrs. mishra?

>>> so how are you those outside of the intelligentsia, who don't recline on your armchairs over the weekend, and use desktops dealing with the problems of india?
ennameenadeeka posted Re:all you hindi-pushing uttar pradeshis please read on 1 month ago
even with efforts of BSNL, Reliance and other broadband (cable/wireless) providers, India is still far behind in connecting the masses by net, so desktops are not really of much use in solving the problems. There is no shortcut , one has to leave the chair if really interested...

are we waiting for Vodafone to take over ?.....

there are many tamilians who are interested in learning and propagating the hindi language in tamil nadu. UPites can hardly be blamed for this.

MaxEntropy_Man posted Re:all you hindi-pushing uttar pradeshis please read on 1 month ago
>>> you read poorly. i wasn't complaining about tamilians voluntarily deciding to learn hindi. i was remarking on the state of primary schools in your state, uttar pradesh, and was encouraging your fellow uttar pradeshis to focus on improving it to the exclusion of everything else.

last year in TN we hired a local taxi to visit the temples and places around..we were listening tamil radio ...after few minutes the tamilian taxi driver asked my son if he wanted to listen hindi songs... my son replied if he had cassette of "Dhoom" and was delighted to find few more cassettes of hindi songs.
(when i call my  friends in TN, to my surprise i often find their mother/ family members talking in tooti footi sweet hindi )
