Yeah.... my family is also full of high school drop outs...
so ????
This is nothing uncommon... when both the parents are PhDs, there is every chance that the kids will also be PhDs ot with other high level degrees...
Show me a poor peasant whose children are all PhDs and MDs.... now that will be a big achievement... (of course, this guy and his family are all smarties....but no big suprise there).
Hamsa's resume reminded me of my own fantasy of studying aeronautical engrg in 9th grade or thereabouts (rooted in absolutely very little, other than the fact it sounded impressive). My poor mother was running around announcing this to others as though it were a done deal.
On an unrelated note, I wonder what kind of conversations she will have with her spouse. If the spouse is not into high powered academics, what would be the common ground? *inquiring minds want to know*

>>> No conversation with your spouse on aeronautical engineering when you come back home (after work) if you are engaged at work in a hardcore aeronautical engg. assignment. You already have a headache from work when you reach home and want absolutely no further discussion about it. A simple dinner talk (related to food) is much more acceptable.

Her research interests address various aspects of air transportation systems, including algorithms for air traffic scheduling and routing, integrating weather forecasts into air traffic management and minimizing aviation-related emissions; air traffic surveillance algorithms; and mechanisms for the allocation of airport and airspace resources.
====> Looks like she took the less difficult fields in Aeronautical engineering to do research. Not that I could do a better job than her.

Of course all this would have been out of my leagues. Wonder if she could have beaten me at beer-swiling back in the day. Let's just say I was in ivy league, summa cum laude league in that dept. I was no "air traffic" lightweight either. No sir, I was the top dog. No question. :)
None of this is core aerospace engineering... it's more traffic management than airplane design. So this proves that in addition to being Java coders for Sulekha, aeronautical engineers are also good at managing traffic.

On 2nd thoughts, maybe not!

Do you know what is 'Vanja Puhalchi' :) Or 'Pazhippadhu Pol Pugaldhal' :)
FH:)

( I struggled thru ilakkanam- so bear with me:)
