If your son wants to marry a white or a Muslim girl, would you insist that the horoscopes should match?
You prove me right as always. You still have not learnt to look beyond your nose. Forty one years ago when I married I did not match any horoscope and nowadays I have not caste any horoscope for my grand childen. This is not because I do not believe in astrology or some such crap. I do not find any need for that now. Astrology being an exact science I can prepare a Janma Patri as and when I require it. And for my son's choice I am afraid you must ask him and not me. He is mature enough to decide for himself what is good and what is not good for him. Period.

You just posted a reply to me saying that you believe in Maglik stuff.
Either you believe in Astrology or you don't.
It is better that you remain confused on this matter. Belief in Astrology, non belief in Mangliks, superstitions et all are personal matters and should not be a matter of concern to others, other than the persons concerned. Unfortunately Sulekha Forum has become a paradise for voyeurs and hence all this can of worms is coming out in the open.
Swami Nikhilananda retold this story very recently. When two disciples were arguing over a trivial matter, their Guru stopped them in the midst of a quarrel and asked them to insert their forefinger in their rectum and after removing it to smell it. They did as told by their Guruji.
After some time they hollered in unision "Gurudeva it smells".
Then again he asked them to wash their fingers in Dettol soap, and insert their forefingers in the anus of the other.
They obeyed their Guru's instructions.
Now smell your fingers, was the next order from the Guru.
Guru it smells much more foul than the previous occasion was their rejoinder.
The present day condition of Sulekha is precisely this and nothing more than this.

How do u know it was the horoscope?
It is only what people say...
Unless u had been in the spot, u cannot say for sure, what caused the suicide/

I give below the full report from the Statesman, which is not a rag like the Times of India. You can depend on this story. My analysis is she was depressed and took her life. Her parents had tried several alliances but none of them did result in her getting married. When several attempts failed to get her married they approached an astrologer who claimed that she would not get married because she was a manglik. And this is a crucial point. That idiot of an astrologer a charlatan at best put two and two together and arrived at a figure of three. For all I know he should be hanged for having abetted the crime of suicide of Sunita. That Sunita was mentally prepared for several rejections, and even if her other two sisters had got married she did not decide to end her life. I agree she had depression, but she did not take this extreme step.
Now what made her take this drastic step? Her father's penury ? Her unattractiveness as a bride? Or she had lost her virginity to some local lothario who had inveigled her to sleep with him and she became pregnant? We do not know. I do not see any report about a Post Mortem. But then the Calcutta Police is the most corrupt police force in India and for the sake of a few thousands of rupees they will write FIRs turning a murder into a suicide and vice-versa. From the highest to the lowest, Buddhadeva's Home Department is corrupt to the core.

KOLKATA, April 6: A 25-year-old girl, Sunita Jaiswal, a resident of Bhukailash Road in Ekbalpore committed suicide this afternoon after repeated refusals in matrimonial alliances as she was a Mangalik. Police say that Sunita's father, Mr Radheshyam Jaiswal, found his daughter's lifeless body hanging from the ceiling fan of her room in their Ekblapore residence around 3.00 p.m. She was immediately rushed to a local private nursing home where she was declared brought dead.
Meanwhile, DC (port) Mr Anand Kumar, said: “Police found a suicide note from her room which said that no one be held responsible for her death. She had also written that she was suffering from depression due to repeated refusals in her matrimonial alliances that were sought by her family.” Sunita's father, however, said that they had tried several times to get her married but had failed in finding a suitable match for her. After such repeated failures they consulted an astrologer who after going through her horoscope declared that she was a Mangalik, because of which she was not getting married. Following this Sunita started suffering from depression fearing that she will never get married. To make matters worse her two siblings had also been married off. This depressed her further leading her to commit suicide.

Whether Manglik or non-Manglik, the stupid parents could not "buy" her a husband. And here in Sulekha we are castigating Astrology. How dumb can we be? We seem to forget that the Big B and his son Junior have accepted a star Manglik, the much used abused and misused Aishwarya Rai as their bahurani and Dharam? Patni for the Junior?

Thats right. It is the girls fault for being manglik. She did well to kill herself before she is used, abused and misused.

For months and some times for years these decaying bodies lay on the terrace of the tower unattended and a prey to the nibbling rodents like bandicoots, rats, mouse and other vermin. All these are "Hindu cultural practices" - that doesn't mean they are acceptable in a modern society.
That old can't-we-just-agree-to-disagree line doesn't work in such cases, sorry. Trying to wrap your superstition in religious colors only demeans Hinduism.

Oh my darlingggg..... that is not hindu cultural practice at all. Villains may do it. ARE u so sure that there are no murderers and thieves in ur religion? All are gooood? no sadists? no rapists? no cruelties? ever done? CAn u prove it to be so? In that case I would like to convert to ur religion. Let me forsake this filthy hinduism... As for what is a Hindu practice and what is not, the deciding basis has to be scriptural. I can't think of any Hindu scripture which talks about your manglik, amanglik nonsense whereas I can quote you several texts which explicitly recommend the burning of widows and punishing of low-castes for transgressions. So on what basis do you say the latter are not Hindu practices but the former is?

As far as marrriage..I am being rejected due to my actue mangalik situation many a times.Many girls initially have shown interest and then have rejected me based on their parental advise regarding the severe effect of mangal on me.I really feel that this girl did nothing so wrong.Magliks are highly impulsive people and they hate huminliation.especially self humiliation.THe dis respect themselves very early and hence life seems like a waste.
I will say that let her atma rest in peace and ultimately achieve moksha.No one...I reapeat who is not a manglik will ever understand how it is to be a manglik.Right from childhood it is a problem.I know many of you won't believe all this..but I am speaking from self expirience.Mangliks are not crazy...some mangliks rise up high at a high pace..some commit suicide.
Acoording to astrology,my suicidal thoughts are Normal.But according modern behaviourial science those are sign of some mental problem.But I never think that I have any such problems.It is the sever effect of mangal..which directly affects sex drive and other things.Magliks have a hard time in concentrating things..most turn out ot be either politicians or art related workers.
But after certain age...the effect is said to diminish...in my case it has been calculated at around 36...for some it is 28 ...for some it is never.Life is tuff.espeically the struggle within a manglik person darws all the energy and then the person cannot concentrate and excell in diffrent things.
Hari Om...sarvey bhavantu sukhinah...let there be happines everywhere.I will be unhappy or happy when I commit suicide i do not know.But I have unlimited compassion for people like me and other people who have hard time organizing thoughts and living a depression free life.THere are thousands of battles within me and I am being defeated at every front.NO NO no one will understand this situation expect another manglik with similar charts as mine.

one of my friend was manglik he kept on always saying the above things, he married now he has children and live happily, he doesn't even think himself different from other people, his wife is non manglik, both are happy. they did not even match kundlis while marrying.
if topic comes sometimes, he says mangliks are lucky, and that happens.
Forget about Indian women altogether. Go through the Russian brides websites. You may be able to find a russian or one of the eastern european gal. Life is too short to be concerned with caste or any such crap. As you grow older, you will realize how trivial such matters are.

Trouble is parents dont send their daughters for job thinking she will find a mate for herself. So the girl waits only for this and kills herself after repeated"rejections".
Welll...I blame the parents.
this is just plain crazy. people just fail to make the distinction between astrology as a science and superstition. Superstition CANNOT be positive, anywhere, anyplace and to anybody. why would any parent want to put their daughter through this? my mom was the only non believer in a family full of believers largely because she always believed in the theory that hard work ALONE would take one places rather than pre determined predictions which in her opinion, put a damper on a person's abilities to go beyond his/her capabilities.
even in TA theories[transactional analysis, a branch of psychoanalysis], to an experienced therapist/psychologist, a person's [client, for example] personality, in its entirety, including the way he dies, could be predicted. now, that is something.
