Recently, his bed broke down, and he had to be moved to the hospital, by using a crane and breaking open one wall of his residence.  

Future : He is under medical treatment, where he is given only 1200 calories per day.   He is hopeful of walking the aisles during his daughter's marriage once the treatment is over. 

Why should one suffer such excruciating uncomfortable existence in the present life?
