The petition is a request to India Government Mint to design coins in a sensible manner. Most of you might have noticed that the new batch of Rupees Two coin is very similar to the Rupee One coin and many of us - people with pretty good vision - face problems in distinguishing between the two.
Imagine the plight of visually challenged people. The petition addresses the same.
With the wee little experience I have in this process ...usually, this kind of request evokes 2 major kinds of responses:
1. A smirk on the face with a mocking attitude...which seems to ask whether this is really a problem ??!!. Yes, it is.
When you hand out a 2 Rupee coin instead of Re. 1 coin you are making a loss of 100%.... to extrapolate ... will you give Rs.2000 to somebody, to whom you owe Rs. 1000?
2. The second kind of response is usually a dismissive nod which seems to say - all this petition stuff won't work. Yes, it may or may not work...but atleast you have registered your protest. It is much better than keeping quiet.
3. Moreover, this process is not going to stop on-line ... letters will be addressed to the Mint after the online drive gathers a much needed momentum.
So,if you think it makes sense please go ahead and sign. Its your money after all ...

how much will it cost to recall all the coins and reissue new ones? what idiots come up with these coins anyway? the metal alone probably costs more than the 1 or 2 rupees
