No and No.
But why the confusion?
Think of flattery as good 'people skill' and carry it on as an art. Instead of flattery, think of real positive feedback. I am sure you can find good stuff about everyone.

Hence the confusion.
In schools we are taught never to lie, profit, or make people suffer. How many times have you told someone their new hairstyle/dress/attitude was lousy? (Now don't lie)
There is a 'phrase' for everything. We are also taught, 'If you can't say anything positive, then don't say anything'.
That statement of mine was more a commentary of what I Iearnt in the corporate culture here. But srsly, it does ring true.
On a side note, all my friends, who are still my friends, tell me on my face if my 'hairstyle/dress/attitude was lousy'. Anyone who doesn't (and I realize the lousiness part later), is outta my list.
"everyone likes to be liked/respected and be around people who are pleasant/appreciative. "

BTW. I broke my record yesterday. I ate 3 lunches!!!! Then evening snack of ice cream and fries!!! Was not able to move, so skipped the dinner, meaning, ate 2-3 spoons of rice..
