will connect ..all the way to Nariman Point & Colaba... with connections to Worli, etc. They are trying to make an expressway.... from outside the city..on the Arabiab Sea..since there is hardly space to contruct more expressways inside the city....
Though this will give a good view of the city from the bridge.....but it is a horrible plan when it comes to asthetics value when looking from the city towards the sea.... another of those corrupt, bribed construction plans of BMC & politicians in the name of progress.

Flying that low looks really scary I admit! Maybe an accident waiting to happen? My mother lives next door to Heathrow airport in London, when I lived there it was so noisy arrrrgh!

Nice pictures.
In the few days I spent in Mumbai, I did not get much chance to spend time on beaches or nighbourhoods. I see some pictures by sea. Got any more of neighbourhood pictures?

Isn't Dharavi the largest slum in the world? I heard that one million people live in that slum (I don't mind being wrong here). That's like the entire population of Fairfax county (407 sq. miles) living in a slum (1 sq. mile)--sickening just imagining. I have met a couple of Bombay natives who claim that the city is like any city in the US!! As bad as some of the american big cities (Chicago, NYC, LA...etc.) are, they don't even come close to Bombay in terms of being dirty and filthy. India has the dubious honor of having some of the dirtiest cities in the world.

Dharavi is Asia's biggest slum. I am sure there are African countries with worser conditions. Most of those slums are now being encroached by Builders who are offering the slum folks free/cheaper flats in their apartment bldgs & the rest of the plots/ rooms in the apartment bldgs they will sell off to make a profit. Dharavi slums are slowly vanishing.
Dharavi looks like a slum... but it houses a lot of small scale factories, manufacturing units..which is why there are so many finacially backward migrants there who get easy jobs in those manufacturing units. Everything from leather, dyes, chemicals, plastics, recycling goods, papads, snacks, clothes, etc get made there. Dharavi also has local municipal school too...so dont assume that all those kids are uneducated. There are some decent income making families (Migrants ) living there. It is more like a native village for them than a slum.
But the truth is... even the poorest, the weakest get refuge in this extreme city. This city absorbs all..rich, poor.

Thanks for the info. I am surprised to know that Dharavi actually has factories and shops. All that stuff in one Sq. mile?? That's really astonishing when you think about it. I am glad the slum folks are getting free/cheaper flats.

Yes, it takes away from the view of the sea.
