Art for the Bathroom

Do any of you have any art in your bathroom?

Almost everyone seems to put that ubiquitous painting of the lighthouse in Maine in their bathroom.  It's so common and boring.

I know one guy who put an abstract Kandinsky in his bathroom.  I think Kandinsky is more living room-appropriate.

Maybe a framed poster of a 1960s Vogue fashion cover?  That would be history, fashion, and appropriate bathroom art, all in one picture.  Three things accomplished with one framed picture.

My favorite was to put a US map in the bathroom. Every morning sitting on the potty, I used to plan for the next vacation, it's driving route, states to cover etc.

Used to be fun till I covered the first 25 states!

Why do men have to do all their reading and deep thinking on the potty?
tejasvee posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
Cause they don't have make hairs while there

I've got lots of art in our bathrooms - nice framed artwork for the visible ones.. weird gifts hung in the not-so-visible areas.

I agree with you on the lighthouse from Maine.. I don't like seashore themes in bathrooms (you're not really at the beach).

Your sort of house makes me severely clastrophobic, no offence. I feel like taking a big, industrial broom and sweeping all that into a trash can, so I can breathe again.

kthanks, Bittu

PS: Still lovin you Ben....make no mistake....

Dude, I have no trash actually.. just really cool stuff!

Anthropologien posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
Lots of art -- could you please describe the themes of all the bathroom art?
I have placed a number of gifts that I've received in the bathroom - most of them would only go there - soap, perfume and lotion.

whatever you have! One has pictures from an Indian art calendar (you shouldn't have to throw these out after the year is over!). Another has framed cards we found. I played off the colors in the framed cards for the accessories.

When you have a house, the best thing to do is pick a style theme for each room. Then, just build on that. Keeps your house from being cluttered or overwhelming.

Indian art is actually a good idea for the bathroom.  Especially the really erotic type.  OMG, you just gave me my theme for my bathroom.  I'm doing an Indian theme for my bathroom.

I have themes for my bedroom (Victorian, old-fashioned, I'm just trying to find a quaint bench) and living room (contemporary, abstract, modern, but I do have a very comfortable couch in spite of the modern theme).

hey chicka, save the erotic indian art for the bedroom.. keep the general mogul stuff in the powder room!! ;-)
gowser posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago

why have that much indian tat in ones house.  there is so much nicer stuff to decorate ones house with then indian things.

Currer Bell posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
I agree.. that's why we have certain rooms dedicated to indian themes. That way you can experiment more with other styles.
gowser posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
personally there is no need even for a room with a particular theme.  rooms should be based around function not themes.

No, the bed is a four poster old-fashioned bed, and the art has to go with the furniture.  So, I'm picking 19th century Impressionist art for the bedroom.

candles in the bathroom are also good
Anthropologien posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
Ooooooooooohhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!  Yes, I love candles in the bathroom.  I have lots all over my bathroom.
Maria S posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago

Nothing wrong with wanting lots of candles.

Why are candles good in the bathroom?  I know a person who almost accidentally burnt their house down.

Aromatherapy, relaxing, mellow, you get the idea.

I like houses that have aromatic candles in their bathroom. when you go in there, the air smells like ass and candles instead of just ass.

Anthropologien posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago

Shoot!  Now that I think of it, I need to buy some kitty litter for my baby.

Propagandhi122 posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
your baby takes a dump in the kitty litter? looks like you need candles in your living room too.
Anthropologien posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
Have you ever trained a cat to flush?
Propagandhi122 posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
you gave birth to a cat? who was the father?
Anthropologien posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
You were.  Dang, you were bad in bed without a penis.
Propagandhi122 posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
if I had banged you, you'd have a tiger taking a dump in your living room instead of a cat.
Anthropologien posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
A tiger is a cat.  My cat doesn't have a penis either :-(
Propagandhi122 posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
does he have a tongue?
Anthropologien posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
He likes to cross-dress.
Propagandhi122 posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
well if he likes peanut butter and has a decent sized tongue, it's all good for you
Vinod Gupte posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
what if the cat likes the fish and gets all aggresive by the smell of it? as it is, cat likes the milk. double whammy.
Propagandhi122 posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago
if she can convince the kitty that munching on cottage cheese is same as lapping milk, she can move the cat to her victorian bed and put the litter on that quaint bench.

I personally think a radio, some books and a place to put some wine and wine glasses are far better things to have in ones bathroom.  Its not that you actually look at the pictures that much.  Alternatively nudes are a good thing to have in the bathroom.

Currer Bell posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago

actually, plants are ideal for the bathrooms where there is a lot of light and moisture.

gowser posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago

they are my bathroom is small with no windows so space for wine is the next best thing.

Anthropologien posted Re:Art for the Bathroom on 1 month ago

I don't drink wine in the bathroom.  Though that's a totally unique idea...a picture of a wine bottle in a bathroom...that would look totally different and unexpected.  I gave my hub nude art for his birthday that I got framed at Michael's.  I think one nude is enough for this year.
