I purchased a saree from a Govt shop..as was told by the shopkeeper the saree was made up of fibres taken out of banana stem after processing, the plus point is that u do not need to starch it like normal cotton as it naturally has slight stiffness and is very cool in summers..though it does not feel smooth like cotton...but it looks good and resembles kota.( with 40,000 Rs, God knows how many sarees i wud purchase !!)
waise to.. KOTA is a stone usually used at entrance and stairs in schools and community halls....found in abundance in Rajasthan, but i am talking abt a variety of fabric here:)
ladies wear kota sarees in summers, the weaving pattern of cotton threads is such that it leaves uniform very small nets all over making it very light and comfortable.

SEVA:
For all you know, they may be from that particular variety of Sandalwood that is used to cremate a dead Politician, at the expense of the State to which he / she belongs. Sadalwood for cremation purposes are coarse and hard, with a very faint fragrance emanating from it. The best Sandalwood from Kavery, Karnataka State Government Enterprise, costs a little less than Rs. 10, 000 per Kg.
