60 killed in terrorist blast in Jaipur

started by Truthbetold3 4 mnths ago

In seven different blasts within 12 minutes, 60 people died and 150 wounded in Jaipur.  Home Minster (State) Jaiswal labelled it as Terrorist.

Toll is probably going to be higher since these are only early reports.

Now the cycle will start.

PM will condemn. Sonia will condemn strongly.  Some Cabinet minister will hint Foriegn Terrorists and Pakistan are responsible. Newpapers will blanket cover the incident for three days(at most) and give us probable culprits such HUJI, Laskkar etc.  BJP will blame center and some congress spokeman will point the finger at State's BJP govt.  Few hot statements.

Javed Akthar, Amir Khan, Shabana Azmi will condemn the incident but ...... (find Modi responsible for the incident).  Kuldip Nayar,  N. Ram will write lengthy treatise on why RSS is the root cause for the attacks.  I am sure we will have some well known indivduals on this forum also use their talents to point the fingers in all  directions.

This incident will also become another  lame statistic by May 20.   The only question is when will the terrorist strike again? where? How many victims? May be some one should device a game like NBC Today's show "Where is Matt lauer'  - But call it " Where will they strike Next"  and who ever guesses the exact toll gets 1 crore.

PM will watch that show and goes to sleep peacefully.  After all he has to get up early to worry about N_ deal with USA,  Rahul's next visit to Karnataka and  arrest of an Innocent doctor in Australia. Who cares about the expandable ordinary Indian? PM is too busy protecting the interests of India.

Now the cycle of high profile (futile) exercise starts.

Patil(the most uselss home Minister of Independent India) is going to Jaipur. Using that as an execuse, the unifficial cheif executive of india, Sonia Gandhi is going there also.  Then comes the inevitable expression of false sympathy, appeal for religious harmony, resolve to fight terrorism, announcement of money and the Indian rope trick(disappearence of real action).

What a shame.  Any nation that allows its soil to be voilated so many times will have a permanent corroding influence of weak state.  If India fails to stem this rot, it is only a question of time before lumpen element use similar vote bank based voilent methods to grab the fruits of Indian financial development.  Land Mafias have already been doing it in different cities.

Look at where ineffective govts lead a country to: Somalia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. Jharkhand and Chattisgarh show a small glimpse of how weak and effective govts destroy wealth instead of creating it.

India should wake up and Be resolute about stamping out terrorism.

Propagandhi12 posted Re:60 killed in terrorist blast in Jaipur on 4 mnths ago
what do you expect the govt to do to 'solve' the terrorist problem? the only way I see is to go all out like US tried to "take the war to them so we dont have to fight them here". India neither has the resources nor the will to do it. it'll be accepted as a fact of life sooner or later.
Truthbetold3 posted Re:60 killed in terrorist blast in Jaipur on 4 mnths ago
Taking the fight to them was an option after Parliament attack and India failed to press that advantage home and paying the price.  Now the only game available to india is to increase the price that terrorists have to pay for any action. That is terror masters have to pay the price whether it is individual terrorist group leaders or ISI leadership or Pakisthani politcal leadership or Indian sympathizer bases.

Present approach of  treating these incidents as a crime incident and trying to fight them as criminal investigation is the world most loser method of reaction. In addition, since UPA came to power, they did not catch any of the blast suspects (except for the few found by Indore police).  Criminal investigations not only result in much good but create terrible public policy issues.  The high handed follow up by HYD police after HYD blasts resulted in bitter resentment among ordinary muslims in HYD.

The first and foremost should be decisive demonstartion of will. Example is Bush's visit to 9/11 site and declaration that US will get them. Then he followed it up with Afganistan. The entire world stood by US. ( Now he misused that trust to invade Iraq is another discussion).  MMS never demonstrated that kind of willand as I have stated in another post, followed up his statements with firm  action.  He does not send a clear message nor does he doanything concrete.

MMS startegy is simply the NFL 's startegy of team leading in fouth quarter using the defence of 'bend but not buckle'.  Let time run out before the opponent get more score than you. However, this theory does not work in politics and fighting terrorism.  There is no time limit in real life.  Time is the only resource that terrorists have and you don't.  Here the story of "Arab and the camel' should be remembered.  Give the terrorist an inch and they will take your country.  Ref: Somalia,  Sudan, Nigeria, and close to home Pakistan and in progress Bangla desh.

Propagandhi12 posted Re:60 killed in terrorist blast in Jaipur on 4 mnths ago

are you suggesting MMS invade pakistan coz that's clearly the source of terrorism in india? do you think that would be a wise course of action, putting entire india at risk? america's strength has always been that it was far removed from most enemy threat, physically. india's population centers are within range of medium range missiles. not so prudent. other problem include lack of unlimited resources and battle tested army. the choice is to move on with our progress, taking lumps as they come along from across the border...or fight a long and debilitating war with devastating consequences. let's face it: not a whole lot can be done. it sounds defeatist, but there you have it.

I said right at the top of my response the opportunity to attack pak has passed.    Now India can only use the second option.

I think half measures are better than no measures but like you said they're quite apathetic and besides we do not have a reply for pakistan's aggression. not in this new world of crazy mullahs and the a-bomb.

Aishwarya Rai has asked Indians and Pakistanis to remain calm and let the officials do their work.

Meanwhile, the Indian Police force has diligently started picking up suspects randomly across the nation. A nationwide terrorist lottery is being drawn to identify the main perpetrator of this incident. The fact that Pakistan/ISI is to blame is a foregone conclusion. By not conducting any investigation, they plan to save precious taxpayer money.

City officials plan to restore normalcy to the city in two hours. City officials are delighted that this might enter the Guinness book of world records for being the fastest time a city has restored to normalcy after a deadly terrorist attack.

"Time heals all wounds!" said the honorable PM and mumbled, "either that or amnesia!". The Home Ministry has asked Swami Ramdas and Sri Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to work overtime in order to ensure that peace and calmness prevails during this excruciatingly painful period. All citizens have been asked to participate in mandatory breathing exercises.

This is no laughing matter but I could not stop laughing.  You should apply for MMS speech writer without wasting your time on codecoolie jobs.  You could write the next 10 speeches even before he asks for them.

Thats because you dont expect the PM to speak like Vijay Mallya... over-reaction is also a sign of acknowledging that the India leadership is rattled by such terrorist attacks. Top leadership will always try to show calm, patience so that the Terrorists dont get a feeling that they have won the battle. reacting strongly or mouthing wrong words could cause riots or cause unstability in the state. PM's first job is to bring back normalcy instead of fueling the anger.

& yes, announcing sums of money is the rigth thing to do... because often it shatters a family when a earning member of the family dies an untimely death. Those familes do get affected more when they think about how they are gonna spend live their future... 7 a small monetary help does give them a start, if not their near & dear one (someone who is irreplaceable personally).

It is easy to mock the top leadership or any ruling party when they speak the same taped dialogues time & again...just like you need some cool headed person when you have a calamity at home to difuse the anger, the chaos... the top leadership has to play that role first. Unfortunately..our system as so slow that justice takes time & often these search for real criminals take time & that is surely one big negative factor in all these.

RS,

"Top leadership will always try to show calm, patience "

No body is finding fault with leaderships calmness.  However after witnessing the drama multiple times, the conclusion of an ordinary Indian is that there is no determination behind the calmness.  When Sardar Patel faced the mutiny in HYD, he was calm. he let Nehru go on this tour and ordered the police action. That changed the course of India for ever.  What is lacking in this Sardar's governance is cohesive, consistent startgy to reduce, minimize and eliminate the threat.  The initiative is completely in the hands of perpetrator.

Frankly, my conclusion is MMS and Sonia simply does not care. They only see this as a political inconvience and want to get over the little hiccup.  Congress has lost the fear of backlash. They came to the conclusion that indian people have become numb to the pain and will not react to another incident.

BJP also came to similar conslucion that its ability to exploit these incidents on religious grounds has diminshed significantly. So they drop the issue after few days of noise.

Even newspapers will follow the routine as I have described above.

Your 90K  would not buy many plot is Noida.  Would it?  One pen stroke, you could be writing the future of Katri corp.  and Memoirs of Ratan Katri.  It is not too late. You got few more months and hot election season coming up.  may be you can impress Yuv Raj. he is your age and he is not married.

yup it is very scary & painful when you have to make those calls to find out about near & dear ones back home. worst part is when you call...the phone lines & the cellphone companies also freeze up.. which makes it worser.

But our politicians arent gonna let that happen. Whether it is Congress, BJP, JD, RJD, CPI, TDP, AIADMK, DMK, Shiv Sena or whoever.....

Raw,

I read the article.  It reflects the sentiments expressed in this thread.  Raman and many other security experts are available to the govt if it has the political will to do something about terrorism.

The truth is India needs Sardar Patel but modern era of politics could only offer  MMS, Sonia, Rahul, Lalu, Mulayam, K'nidhi, and Advani.  No other democracy would have tolerated a home Minister such as Patil for four full years of repeated failures and staggering human loss.

"Outside J&K, the pan-Islamic jihadi organizations have struck on soft targets in places such as Mumbai, Delhi, Varanasi, Lucknow, Faizabad (in UP), Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Coimbatore. Al Qaeda and pro-Al Qaeda organizations have struck in places such as  Bali (twice), Jakarta, Mombasa, Casablanca, Istanbul, Madrid, London and Sharm-el-Sheikh.

Secondly, they want to discredit the intelligence agencies, the Police and other security agencies in the eyes of the people by demonstrating their capability to strike despite the vigilance of these agencies. In their calculation, this could result in a gradual loss of faith of the people in the efficacy of these agencies.

Thirdly, they want to make the Police and the security agencies  over-react in response to their successful strikes. Such over-reactions often come in the form of large-scale arrests of the members of the community from which the terrorists have arisen and the alleged use of harsh methods to interrogate them. This creates animosity towards the Police and the Government in the victim-community and adds to their sense of alienation. Such over-reactions could also create a divide between different communities, thereby resulting in the flow of more recruits to the ranks of the terrorists. Anger resulting from over-reactions facilitates their recruitment. "

rawemotions posted Re:60 killed in terrorist blast in Jaipur on 4 mnths ago

This is the most unbelievable joke I have seen on this website.

A news report from US state department itself admits,. that nationwide terrorist strikes are completely religious in nature. This indicates a complete lack of understanding of the hatred being bred in people (caused by Islamic religious doctrine that justifies superiority for one and inferiority of non muslims) that sends somebody to kill 60 innocent people in cold blood.

According to the U.S. State Department, India ranks among the countries where terrorism is most common.

"The conflict in Jammu and Kashmir, attacks by extreme leftist Naxalites and Maoists in eastern and central India, assaults by ethno-linguistic nationalists in the northeastern states, and terrorist strikes nationwide by Islamic extremists took more than 2,300 lives this year," the agency said.

It said India's counterterrorism efforts "are hampered by outdated and overburdened law enforcement and legal systems," and described the country's court system as "slow, laborious, and prone to corruption."

The report hit the nail in the head.

Judicial process should be fine tuned according to the times. Best example, is how Blair reacted to attacks.
He revamped the laws to make it respond fast to terrorism.

Terrorism stops, when the
a) country shows unity of purpose and determination to counteract it.  Islamic terrorism, stops ,
b) when citizens come out in one voice and denounce it. also stops,
c) when government enacts laws that empowers, the common man to fight it. For example, strict punishment
for somebody providing passive support to terrorists.
d) When religious doctrine inspried hatred of other religions stops. In a secular country, the first and foremost
thing that is required, is that all religions respect each other. If religious doctrine inspires, people practising
one religion to look down upon others, then the basic education they undergo need to be modified to instill
secular values. This is what Kemal Ataturk did very successfully in Turkey.

There is need to kill ten times the number of people from terrorist community or religious group.

Truthbetold3 posted Re:60 killed in terrorist blast in Jaipur on 4 mnths ago
RS,

"The day , terrorism will stop being treated as a religious issue & a political issue to win votes or win votes of a particular community...Terrorism will cease to exist."

religion and politics can be seperated in any country.  With the hsitory that india has, they will be hotly contested in every election.  However, when economics dominate such as onions prices , religion will receede.

Niether Congress nor BJP (or NDA) has done enough to fight Terrorism as a state policy.  They could have focused on improving state organs assigned to fight terrorism into highly professional organs.  Indian anti terrorist organs have reasonably good himan intelligence.  However they never developed the professionalism,  stategic depth, and technological superiority and  resources to stay ahead of the terrorists.

Congress could have benefited from such organizational development since it could have avoided the stigma of weak of terorrism.  Professional approach would have also taken out the tag of anti muslim harrassmnet in police work. Patil has proved the most ineffective home minister in the history of Independent India.
