Hi Team Sulekha,
I am not able to access my dashboard or edit my profile. When I click on dashboard or profile link, the browser tries to open the link - http://~aftaab.sulekha.com/dashboard.htm and it says page cannot be found. Can you please let me know how to correct this.
Thanks,

Maria S.  is making racist comments against white people and I'm offended about that.  I am a white person.  Maria S. claimed that there are fwhite churches that do not allow black people in their churches in the U.S.  That is a complete lie!  I have researched this subject.  This is a statment just to further racism.  I've asked Maria S. to apologize for this statement and she refuses.  I want her to set the record straight.

Notes do not work properly. Most notes never show up. Even the ones that do disappear on their own randomly

Flat vs Nested doesnt work. It shows the same way in both cases. The editing window keeps becoming smaller and smaller in both cases.

What should i do to delete a post? With all the changes Sulekha makes, the basics just dont seem to exist.

Jedi Knight posted Re:Introducing All New Sulekha.com Forums on 6 mnths ago
It would also help to add more options in profile like deleting the profile.
Many users have complained about this. They dont want to leave the ID here.
This must be the only site that doesnt let users delete their profile.

I think its like the blogs editor.

When you post a new discussion, just select the text and use the html formatting in the menu.
If you know some html, then remove the tick from the "rich text editor" box and use it to link to materials.

I am not sure abt this reply box.

testing bold in html

If the above text is in bold, then you can use html tags

below is my unmodified response to a poster in a thread entitled "the worst forums ever." it contains a brief assessment of your new forum design. i tried emailing it to you as you suggested, but found no easy way to do so from the forum. i hope you'll pay some attention to it, and that it's useful to you.

flimflam

why don't you all be more specific, and point at particular features of the new forums that you dislike? remember to email that info to sulekha.

i myself don't like the forums. reasons: 1) i can't see, in one screen, a large number of the latest posts in reverse-chronological order; 2) the posts are not hierarchically structured, i.e., i can't see all the posts were made in response to each post; 3) the order in which sulekha displays the posts is not clear to me; is there any chronology at all, and if so, is the chronolgy based on the time-stamp of the latest post in a thread, or that of the initial post of the thread?

i admit that all the features and strengths of the new design may not be evident to me, and i may have misconstrued some. however, shouldn't sulekha have predicted that, and introduced the new design to us with descriptions of its salient, new features?

here's the most jarring feature of any service design: unnecessary change, especially of the visual kind. after a user's senses have been trained to work with the strengths and weaknesses of one design, it's inefficient and annoying to work with a new one; the initial annoyance and inefficiency can be justified if the new design brings overwhelming benefits in comparison to the old one. the s-shaped "learning curves" that industrial engineers and business efficiency experts talk of are expressions of the advantages of stable processes, the opposite of unnecessary change.

i'm about to mail a copy of this post to sulekha.

First up, thank you for fixing the posting problem that was crippling Groups. Posts now go through lightning fast.

The major pain points with the new Forums are:

1. The entire thread's contents are loaded into one page. It is next to impossible to go through long threads.

2. Lack of formatting features (bold, underline, etc.).

3. Posts you have already read do not appear in a different color. This is likely because you are forcing the links to always appear in the same color. The browser displaying them in different colors is a very useful feature for many of us.

4. It is difficult to identify which post was written in response to which. The tree view works, but it is not the default. In long threads, which is where you need this functionality, the tree view is useless because most of the page is taken up by the boxes around posts.

5. The "posting reply -- please wait" disabling of the page is unnecessary and very irritating. When you get an Internal Server error in posting, that page is stuck disabled.

6. The original post does not apply in the reply box. This functionality is badly needed.

One bug: the Latest Posts view shows the title of the first post in the thread always, but the Home view shows the title of the post correctly.

Help needed. Not able to enter the forum with a new topic for discussion. Could you help me to adjust to this new fangled idea. I am totally disappointed with this new development.

Regards.
Rajaputhran.

PS: You may have to start from the beginning till such time I am able to post the post. Now I am only able to send replies, and not able to initiate a new post for starting a discussion.

VC posted Re:Introducing on 7 mnths ago
Did you try clicking the Start A Discussion button on the top of the page?
Vaidyanathan Pushpagiri posted Re:Introducing on 7 mnths ago
Yes. This is the sequence.

1. Click -> Start a Discussion.
2. -> Subject with Category Radio Buttons.
3. -> Space for Message - a red lined rectangular page.
4. -> At the right hand corner bottom is the bugbear: "Post a discussion topic."

I click on it and the screen vanishes with my message and I get a stinging slap on my face: "ERROR MESSAGE VAIDYANATHAN PUSHPAGIRI ... SORRY PLEASE CLICK TO POST."

Now my query is where is the "click to Post tab"? I am not able to see it in my monitor screen.

Any idea where is it lurking or hiding ?

For sending replies, I have no problems. After composing the message, once I click on "reply", it instructs me to "Post this comment".

Regards.
Rajaputhran.

I suspect that you are using html tags (like the img tag for your "Om" signature) in your post. Try making the post without any HTML tags and see if that works.

Noway! I don't like this format, as it does not permit one to personalise one's posts! I have kissed good-bye to all my personal quirks in writing, and am following the set norms of Sulekha which is plain and pedestrian!!

BTW VC's suggestion worked like a charm. You should see more of my posts hencforth.

I agree. It is important to allow formatting, links and images in posts.

> I have kissed good-bye to all my personal quirks in writing, ...

It is a pity... I hope they restore the formatting and image functionality soon, because I used to enjoy some of the photos you posted.

Good to hear!

LittleFella posted Re:Introducing on 7 mnths ago

It's getting sick and tiring to keep track of anything at all.

How come something that was working has been rendered so unintuitive and
contrived, and some functionality of the past altogether gone.

Sulekha Team: please consider giving us

1. default treeview expanded option with latest post first and oldest post last.
2. ability to post clickable links/images.
3. ability to edit/add to subject line of an existing thread.
4. ALL the suggestions Carvaka has listed. Those are exactly mine too
and several others.

Regards.

LittleFella posted Re:Introducing on 7 mnths ago

Apart from all this I would like this feature which I consider useful :

5. Need Edit/Delete option on an already posted (own) message.
This will improve overall quality too
- main reason : can correct typos instead of posting a new one to correct
some post and lose the thread continuity. Option to delete will give the
ability to monitor/moderate own posts. This will keep the site clean and
easily moderated.

VC posted Re:Introducing on 7 mnths ago
When I entered something in Subject and in Message, I was able to post. I get the error you got, when I did not enter anything in Subject.
Vaidyanathan Pushpagiri posted Re:Introducing on 7 mnths ago
VC:
Thank you. That did the trick. Without something in the Subject column, it just refuses to budge. Oh well, here is Good-Bye to a lot of good photographs, and verbal highlights etc, with which we used to emblish our posts.

Regards.
Rajaputhran.

LittleFella posted Re:Introducing on 7 mnths ago

VP. I would hate to see you not being able to post your informative stuff
with those links and pics and highlighting.

I request Sulekha to consider posts like VP's as standard examples of
what people might want to post and see.
