WHAT A WEBSITE SHOULD DO PROMOTE THE BOOK IT PUBLISHES?

started by NAVAL LANGA 3 mnths ago
It is fact that our beloved website sulekha is going to publish and promote the books containing some of the best blogs written by the bloggers. It has all our hearty congratulations and support.

I would like to know the views of all the friends about  WHAT A WEBSITE SHOULD DO PROMOTE THE BOOK IT PUBLISHES....

The bloggers' views would be useful in promoting such a good venture.

Hi Naval,

Here are my suggestions:

1. Advertise in news papers in the new book releases section

2. Advertise in other popular blogging sites - that way those sites and their bloggers will be curious to see what is going on and would buy the book to see if they implement the same thing with their bloggers

3. Advertise in some magazines

4. Advertise in some search sites associated with key words related to blogging

5. Advertise in all the partner websites of Sulekha

These are some of the ideas.

Madhuri

Sulekha is a professionally managed site; and keeping the miximization of the profit in mind, it should promote the best things it has. And the books published, and to be published, are supposed to be the best of Sulekha. If any one of the suggestions you made is applied properly, it would certainly benifit Sulekha and its writers.

Today is the age of book launches (Outlook reported that book launches are usually held October onwards because hotels make available their lawns gratis for the purpose...) and closely following are Book Reviews.
I'd suggest that Sulekha showcase its bloggers through featured articles in newspapers & magazines (with profiles of some of the featured bloggers) (see recent editions of Sunday Hindustan Times as examples) and the recent endeavour of monthly books on selected themes etc could appear as boxed items with reviews.
Catch Vinod Mehta of Outlook - and others like gand ol' man Khushwant Singh and other Page 3 people and send them books to review - and reviews could be then posted on Sulekha Home Page

To Mr. Harsh Puri

Showcasing the writers and their work in the newspapers is a good and viable idea. Sulekha can do it with some efforts.

I think the selected bloggers could come together under the Sulekha banner at a performing place like NCPA in the city of Mumbai organising  a reading session to catch the public attention and also the eye of the media. In the midst of the special invitees from the print and tv media the reading will ensure attractive headlines and some photospace to announce the coming of the Sulekha Publishing venture with a verve!

Yes, the meeting of the selected and other regular writers on Sulekha would be benificial in many ways.

And getting one of the major news channels as a co-sponsor this event could potentially go places...
